Where You’ll Stay

Trauma, Mental Health, and Addiction Treatment

Whether or not we realize it, trauma plays a part in many of our lives and in the choices we make. Left untreated, it can contribute to countless problems: mental health disorders, dysfunctional relationships, substance abuse, and even physical pain. It is an invisible and devastating force.

At Sequoia Behavioral Health, you’ll experience integrated therapy that addresses your mental health symptoms and their root causes. Every member of our staff is trained in treating trauma and stress related disorders, and we place a special emphasis on understanding and resolving trauma in our day-to-day programming.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy is private treatment with licensed therapists and medical professionals. It includes somatic experiencing, neurofeedback, and individual psychoeducation.

Group Therapy

In group therapy, individuals can learn, grow together, and experience meaningful support through psychoeducation, recreational therapy, and community development.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma therapy recognizes that trauma is an underlying part of many other conditions. This philosophy helps us provide compassionate and effective treatment.

Somatic Experiencing

Somatic experiencing is a holistic, body-focused treatment modality that helps resolve both physical and psychological trauma symptoms.

Neurofeedback

Neurofeedback provides insight on how the brain responds to distressing stimuli, helping change the way a person responds to their emotional triggers.

Recreational Therapy

Recreational therapy uses games, movement, art, time in nature, and other positive activities to relieve mental suffering and aid the recovery process.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation helps clients learn more about themselves and discover practical ways to overcome mental and behavioral health problems.

CBT

CBT, or cognitive behavioral therapy, helps clients learn to self-identify negative thinking patterns and replace them with healthy behaviors.

DBT

Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) is especially effective for those who struggle to manage and regulate emotions.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing, or MI, helps people resolve ambivalent feelings and insecurities by empowering them to find motivation and capacity for change.

Forward-Facing Therapy

Learn to use simple self-regulation skills to restore a sense of safety by interrupting your body's threat response.

Internal Family Systems

Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of psychotherapy that conceptualizes the mind of an individual as one family made up of various parts.

Family Therapy

Family therapy is a type of psychotherapy used to address the health and functioning of the family as a whole, within the context of individual therapy for one member of the family.

Grief Therapy

Through a supportive and compassionate approach, grief therapy provides guidance and tools for grief management.

Attachment Style Therapy

Attachment style therapy helps people heal from past experiences and develop secure attachments in all of their relationships.

PGx Testing

Pharmacogenetic testing removes much of the trial and error of prescribing behavioral and mental health medications by analyzing your DNA.

Emotional Freedom Techniques

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or tapping therapy, is a self-help tool that uses acupressure and psychological techniques to manage emotional and physical distress.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

ACT is an action-oriented therapy that allows clients to move past negative emotions and thoughts, rather than fighting them.

Sound Baths

Sound baths treat a variety of mental health concerns by connecting the mind and body. Specific sounds help slow breathing and heart rate to induce calmness.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs

Understanding how our basic needs are connected to our ability to pursue mental health is an important step toward self-actualization.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative therapy helps individuals rewrite the negative stories they tell themselves, empower them to take control of their lives, and find new meaning and purpose.

Medication Management & MAT

In a controlled and safe environment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT) can help some clients participate more fully in their therapy program.

Integrative Therapy

Integrative and eclectic therapy involves using different techniques from multiple therapy disciplines to create the most effective, personalized treatment.

Multicultural Therapy

Multicultural therapy can apply to any psychotherapy. It's a personalized treatment plan based on a person's culture, race, religion, etc.

Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

Solution-focused brief therapy is a short-term therapy method that focuses on a client's mental or behavioral health goals rather than their past.

Existential Phenomenological Psychotherapy

EPP is a type of therapy that can be used to supplement other methods. It's used to help people take action to develop meaning for their existence.

Holistic Dietary Services

A menu developed specifically for individuals in recovery from mental health disorders by a holistic dietician.

Solution-Focused Therapy

Instead of analyzing a current problem, this therapy focuses on the strengths and resources a person has and helps identify solutions.

What People Are Saying

Sequoia is a wonderful home to find yourself and gain strength for life. I came to Sequpia with mental struggles and an overall skepticism of this type of facility. These feelings and any concerns I had were quickly resolved as I got to know Sean, Emma, and the staff. Sean and Emma have hearts of gold and try their hardest to operate a well ran program. The home is warm and inviting. The staff is engaging and willing to help at the drop of a hat.

The content I learned while at the home will forever change my life. Everyone in the home comes from different paths and the program is designed well to accommodate everyone. The doctors did a good job with treatment. Individual treatment was an added blessing. They are truly on your side and want you to succeed. I would and will recommend Sequoia Behavioral Health to all seeking peace and healing.

My experience at Sequoia BH was amazing. From my first day, everyone was nice, warm, welcoming, and supportive. The facility itself is beautiful, and all of the different therapies and activities greatly helped turn my life around. I owe everything I have to this wonderful program and all of the hard work that came with it!

What to say about Sequoia. This place was a true place of healing. I went in broken, more depressed then ever, and had relapsed. I didn’t have much hope. But their team met me with nothing but kindness, compassion and actually listened to my wants, needs, and concerns. Their clinical director is the most personal person I’ve ever met. The owner and the nurse truly care. For the first time I feel like in on the right meds, had therapy and was given a thorough aftercare plan. I would refer any of my struggling friends, whether addiction or mental health. It was 100% worth every penny for my life.

I would like to first thank Sean, Emma, and the entire staff at Sequoia, for reshaping my life and bringing out the very best in me. The home setting is very comfortable and relaxing. I received the very best care possible which, has helped me become a better man, husband, and father. I will forever use the skills and tools I learned at Sequoia, to continually improve upon my life.

Sequoia BH is life changing. From CBT, Mindfulness, and trauma recovery techniques to the carefully orchestrated outings and nutritional intervention, this program cultivates an environment congruent with healing from PTSD and complex traumas and/or addiction. As with most BH cultures, the manner in which an employer treats their employees reflects how the staff treat their residents; hence, the staff at Sequoia treats the residents with love and empathy, clearly reciprocating the very care and attention the owner’s have for their own employees. Sequoia then follows through with aftercare, by generating an aftercare plan which further sets the client up with the ability to succeed. The partnerships and knowledge of the services in the Phoenix Valley are the perfect reflection of the desire of this program to do everything within their scope to provide the client with the tools needed to foster recovery. The home is impeccably modern yet warm, with decor and amenities reflecting the care and attention one would expect from such a personal program. When choosing Sequoia BH, rest assured a team of highly competent yet approachable counselors, BHT's, Psychiatric providers, nurses, and managers are there to provide a culture of holistic healing.

I’m not sure where to start, or what proper words to use that can truly express what Sequoia Behavioral Health is. My daughter’s life was destined to change the first moment she stepped into the house. The tools, therapy, compassion, forgiveness and love that Sean and his team have given my kiddo will no doubt stay with her throughout life. You’ve helped her outlook on life change, along with the way she views herself. Please send your loved ones to Sequoia Behavioral Health, you will definitely be glad you did. The facility is extremely comfortable, warm, inviting, and it is absolutely beautiful!!! In my opinion Sequoia Behavioral Health is hands down the best treatment facility in the state of Arizona. Thank you Sean, and Team…you all are AMAZING!
