The Sequoia Experience: What to Expect
Starting mental health treatment shouldn’t have to be a blind leap of faith. We’re here to help you understand each step of the process.
A Truly Personalized
A mental health crisis is frightening and confusing. It’s common to feel lost and alone. At Sequoia, you’ll be seen, listened to, and welcomed into a community that understands exactly what you are going through.
Your experience with Sequoia Behavioral Health will be simple and transparent. We’ll work with you and your loved ones to answer your questions and make sure you understand your path forward.
Intake: getting started
To get started, an admissions specialist will ask you some questions about yourself and your insurance. Then, we’ll determine your treatment start date and arrange for drop-off or pickup at our facility. If you need another level of care before beginning our program, we’ll help you coordinate it.
When you arrive at our facility, one of the first things you’ll do is sit down with a team member to develop your treatment plan. We’ll discuss your health history, struggles, and your hopes for the future. This information will help us determine which treatment types will be most effective.
Our 30-day residential treatment program will look a little different for everyone. You’ll participate in group therapy and activities with a small number of other clients, and you will also meet one-on-one with therapists for private daily treatment.
Inpatient treatment is just the beginning of mental health recovery. During your time at Sequoia, we will develop a plan for continued outpatient therapy. By the time you complete our program you will have a clear picture of your next steps forward.
Where You’ll Stay
During your inpatient stay, our residential facility will be your home away from home. Group and individual therapy spaces will be just down the hall from your bedroom and living areas. Our facility includes indoor and outdoor areas for relaxation and recreation. We’re located in a quiet residential neighborhood just minutes away from local fitness, activity, and community centers.
Who You’ll Work With
Our team is made up of compassionate therapists trained in mental health and addiction treatment, as well as trauma care,. You will experience daily treatment with your therapist as well as small-group programming with under 10 other clients. Additionally, our team includes a registered dietician and medical professionals to make sure your dietary and health needs are fully met.
Addressing the Health of You and Your Family Unit
Support from those closest to us can dramatically improve the success of treatment during your stay and after. Depending on an individual’s treatment plan, we’ll integrate several sessions of family therapy that benefits both the client and their loved ones. Focusing on reintegration, communication, and education, family therapy gives our clients the tools necessary for a happy, fulfilling life after they leave Sequoia.
Seeking Help for a Loved One?
If you believe that a friend, family member, or intimate partner needs treatment, you have options. Family support is an essential piece of the recovery process, and we’re here to help you as you help your loved one.
In addition to inpatient treatment, we provide referrals for interventions, medical detox, family counseling, and long-term outpatient therapy. We also offer educational resources to help you better understand behavioral health. We strive to take away the footwork—carving a seamless, peaceful pathway for you and the people you care about.
