Emotional Freedom Techniques

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), or tapping therapy, is a self-help tool that uses acupressure and psychological techniques to manage emotional and physical distress.

How Does Tapping Therapy Work?

EFT is a powerful tool for managing emotional and physical distress. This technique combines the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) principles of acupuncture with modern psychology. It involves tapping on specific acupressure points while focusing on a particular issue or emotion to alleviate emotional distress and promote overall well-being.

This self-help tool utilizes acupoints on the hands, face, and body. The most common of these include:

  • Eyebrow (EB)
  • Side of the Eye (SE)
  • Under the Eye (UE)
  • Under the Nose (UN)
  • Chin Point (Ch)
  • Collarbone Point (CB)

EFT is a simple and effective technique that anyone can easily learn and practice. Users tap the acupoints with their fingertips while focusing on uncomfortable feelings or concerns and use positive affirmations to neutralize those feelings.

Benefits of Clinical EFT

EFT can offer a range of benefits for individuals looking to manage emotional and physical distress. Research shows it reduces stress and anxiety, improves sleep quality, increases self-esteem, and alleviates physical pain.

Clinical EFT tapping is an evidence-based form primarily used to treat mental health issues. It combines memory recall, verbal statements, and tapping a set of eight acupoints. Over 100 clinical studies validate its use in the following treatments:

EFT can help with weight loss by addressing the emotional and psychological factors contributing to overeating, such as stress, anxiety, and low self-esteem.

PTSD and trauma can be addressed through EFT by reducing the emotional intensity of traumatic memories and improving emotional regulation.

Stress and Anxiety involve a lot of intense emotions and negative thoughts. EFT can help by lowering the intensity of negative emotions, promoting relaxation, and improving emotional regulation and coping skills.

EFT soothes both depression and physical pain by addressing the underlying emotional issues and promoting a sense of calm and well-being through the stimulation of acupressure points.
