Sound Baths

Sound Baths, or sound healing, is a meditative practice that exposes clients to specific sounds and tones that promote relaxation and healing.

Creating Internal Harmonies

Sound can move us in all different directions. For many, loud noises can cause you to feel overwhelmed and stressed. Certain chord progressions in a song can evoke strong emotions and bring people to tears. We can also use sounds to heal.

Sound baths use precise sound frequencies to create tones that promote relaxation and comfort. Instruments like Tibetan singing bowls, gongs, and tuning forks make sounds that naturally cause the body to slow down and relax.

Eventually, the sound bath will inspire “entrainment” when a person’s brain waves synchronize with peaceful sound waves. Entrainment reinforces a strong mind-body connection, and deeper healing can begin.

How Sound Baths Can Help

Sound healing evokes the parasympathetic nervous system — the “rest and digest” portion of unconscious needs.

Many mental and behavioral health disorders result from an overactive sympathetic nervous system or our “fight or flight” responses. When this portion of our brains and body is subdued, and the parasympathetic nervous system can do its job, our brain and body can begin to heal.

Sound baths can help with a variety of issues, including:

REDUCE STRESS AND ANXIETY

Both stress and anxiety disorders result from your sympathetic nervous system turning on. As part of a holistic treatment plan, sound baths can induce calmness and increase the program’s effectiveness.

REDUCE DEPRESSION SYMPTOMS

Sound baths induce a meditative state that grounds you and helps make you mindful of thoughts and emotions. This practice and the healing nature of entrainment can help treat depression.

PROMOTE BETTER SLEEP

Whether we’re up from stress or a wonky schedule, lack of sleep makes us agitated and reduces executive functioning. The relaxation caused by sound baths can last through the day into the night, helping you sleep.

HEAL TRAUMA

Trauma is not only held in the mind but the body as well. Many people need help releasing memories, emotions, and physical tension. Deep relaxation from sound baths opens the door to addressing and treating trauma.
